The Studio

Peppermint Grove Studios is run by Emily-Rose Sharkova and is a place for creativity. Recording, learning, developing, experimenting, live performance – it can happen here.

About the space:

Peppermint Grove Studio has a live room with Shigeru Kawai grand piano, drum kit and various percussion, as well as the control room which can also act as a second room for separation. In the control room there is an upright Broadwood and Sons piano, fitted with a felt bar. We also have a Juno 106 and Kawai MP7se which has an excellent range of electric piano and organ sounds.

Peppermint Grove Studios is a home studio – that’s why you feel at home coming to record or listen to a concert here! Projects that enjoy grassroots feels, connection to nature, and a less sterile or commercial environment tend to love spending time here. People who have recorded here include: The Shanty Club, The Good Behaviours, Ofri, Emily-Rose and The Wild, Emmy Ryan, Monstress, Beryl, Dave Reglar, Isabel Rumble, Carl Morgan, Tourismo, Magickal Ms G. We’ve also had the live performances from the likes of Zeal H., Will and Jenn (SCO/UK), Liz Frencham, Where Water Meets and Broken Creek.

What is also special about Peppermint Grove, is that we are a house next to beautiful bushland. Go for a walk, head to the lagoon, take a dip in our pool or talk to the birds. Depending on the timing and the project, occasionally the whole house can be hired out and a full band can stay. At other times we can still offer some accommodation – especially if folks are recording multiple days in a row, or need to just come and take time out from the city (but still be in Sydney close to the train line!).
